After completing his MSc in physical chemistry from Université Paris Saclay & Ecole Normale Supérieure de Paris Saclay and in materials chemistry from Université Pierre et Marie Curie (France), Victor Castaing spent most of his three PhD years in Chimie ParisTech’s dark rooms, enjoying watching afterglow fading of his materials, and further improving their persistent luminescence properties by composition engineering.

Convinced of persistent phosphors beauty and potential for state-of-the-art lighting nanotechnologies, Victor joined the MOM group to focus on their elaboration as thin transparent coatings and their combination with photonics architectures. Working in Sevilla, he hopes that this novel strategy will boost their properties as to allow him spending the longest time as possible in ICMS’s cool and dark rooms, waiting for afterglow to vanish.
